The Unified Communications Architecture and Design (UCAD) course addresses the breadth of technical issues surrounding the design of Voice over Data networks and explains a methodology that brings order to approaching the problems faced by planners and designers. The course teaches the assessment of the current network, Cisco methodology for implementing Voice over Data networks, and how to design sustainable and appropriate implementations. The 5-day course culminates in an intensive lab exercise to apply the concepts, recommendations and calculations to design an Enterprise Unified Communications solution with emphasis on LAN and WAN based call control systems that can be implemented and maintained cost-effectively. Given an existing data network, design a voice network solution overlay based on the use of Cisco`s Unified Communications products according to the Solution Reference Network Design (SRND) and Cisco best practices. Objectifs:
Upon finishing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the components that comprise a complete Cisco Unified Communications solution and size and position products within the solution
- Properly identify the products and features required in the LAN environment to support Unified Communications call control
- Calculate the WAN bandwidth requirements to support VoIP calls (based on existing telephony and data statistics)
- Identify the issues and components that make up a Cisco Unified Communications call control solution:
- Sizing the voice gateway
- Sizing and locating the media resources
- Sizing and locating Cisco Unified Communications call agents, Cisco Unified Communication Manager 6.X, and Cisco Unified Communication Manager Express
- Designing the proper dial plan
- Issues that impact E911 requirements
- Securing the voice network components
